Getting recruited is a very exciting experience. As with most exciting opportunities, there are a couple things to know before starting the process. We will be discussing the red lights and green lights to look out for when navigating your recruiting process.

Coach Effort
Red Light: The coach does not communicate well and is not present when you visit the school.
Green Light: The coach is communicating with you during your whole process and sets up a date to meet you.

Welcoming Atmosphere
Red Light: If the coach, team, and school do not make you feel welcomed, it is not the school and program for you.
Green Light: If the coach, team, and school make you feel welcomed and comfortable, the school is a good one to consider.

Honesty
Red Light: The coach is obviously exaggerating how good the school and program is to get you to sign.
Green Light: The coach shows and tells you what to expect if you sign to the school. It is best to know what you are getting into before signing.

Benefits
Red Light: The coach only expresses how much the school would benefit from you and not how much the school will benefit you. The coach also becomes pushy, telling you their school is the best option and you need to sign now.
Green Light: The coach expresses how much they want you to succeed and how the school will benefit you through and athletics. The coach also expresses how much they would love to have you and to take your time with your decision and let them know.

Red Light: Picking the school just because they offered the most money.
Green Light: Picking the school because it has the major you are interested in, a great atmosphere, and athletic aid to help you pay for your education.
