Recruiting Horror Story: Don’t Party Too Hard!

Recruiting Horror Story: Don’t Party Too Hard! Recruiting Horror Story: Don’t Party Too Hard!

This athlete wanted to remain anonymous because his Recruiting Horror Story was very embarrassing for him personally, and does not want people to know his identity. However, it teaches a very good lesson that all recruits should be careful when they go on a visit to a school recruiting them–even when they’re having a casual good time with a team.

Too Much Fun?

The background for this story is that an athlete was being recruited very heavily to this one school. He came down for a weekend visit to see the school, play with the team, and hang out with them at night. He checked all the boxes during the day but when it got to the night time things got a little out of hand–the recruit was at a party and began to drink pretty heavily throughout the night. It got to the point where his host took him back to the room for the night, but it might have been too late–the recruit started to throw up all over the floor of the host’s dorm! The recruit offered to clean it up, but the host’s roommate decided to do it instead.

While the recruit did not actually get into any trouble, that is not the impression you want to set around your potential future teammates. A tip for many recruits is to not drink alcohol when they go for a visit–especially since you’re underage and can get into serious trouble. Many recruits will most likely be tempted and offered booze by other people, but it is best to not drink at all. After all, a coach might ask his players how the recruit acted and what were their thoughts on him–the last thing you want as a recruit is to ruin your potential offer because you acted immaturely on your visit.
