We are all in need of a little sometimes, whether it be a beach island, a tour around Paris, or even a ski trip to Alaska. But you should always remember one thing: a healthy, active lifestyle is still important. Sometimes, it can be hard to find the motivation to get out of bed and do your required exercise for the day but there are a few things that can help you.

Remember Why You Are Training in the First Place

In team sports, we work hard because we don't want to let our teammates down. In individual sports, we keep going because we know it is going to make us better. It is also important to structure your exercise routines in a way that makes them easy for you. For example, create a schedule and stick to it. If you are someone that is tempted to skip leg day once in a while, designate a specific day to it and make sure that you get it done. It is helpful to alternate between strength and cardio every day–this will keep things interesting and make it easier to stay consistent. However, some athletes do not have this luxury and are told what exercises they need to do every day.

Get Creative

Whether you're following a packet or not, make sure you have the right equipment and facilities to get your required lifts/running done. But say you are in the Bahamas for a week and do not have access to a gym or weight room–what can you do then?The solution is easy: let your trainer know so they can send some bodyweight exercises for you to do. That way, you can do something that is equally effective to your regularly scheduled workouts  (plus it can help you feel better lying on the beach later on in the day with an ice cream in hand!).

Stay on Track

On that note, always remember to keep up with your . This may be difficult if you are on vacation and out of your comfort zone, but it will ultimately keep you feeling good and motivate you to keep training. Drinking lots of water and keeping a balanced diet is always important, no matter where you are. Go ahead and enjoy that vacation in Spain, but always remember to look after yourself and your body too.
