NCAA Investigating University of Tennessee Football

The University of Tennessee has recently come under pressure from the NCAA due to possible . In March of 2022, The Athletic reported that “a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023 signed an agreement with a school's NIL collective that could pay him more than $8 million by the end of his junior year of college.” This athlete was later identified as Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava. A week and a half later, Iamaleava committed to Tennessee. 

Tennessee has not reportedly received any notice of allegations from the NCAA yet, but this will be a story to look out for!

Dartmouth Basketball Players are Now School Employees

In a groundbreaking decision, the regional director of the National Labor Relations Board ruled that the men's basketball players at Dartmouth College can now be considered employees of the school. This decision would allow the athletes to unionize, receive benefits, and negotiate contracts.

Michigan State Unveils State-of-the-Art Esports Facility

Michigan State University recently opened its brand new esports facility on campus. Esports is a growing sport in college, and the Spartans are working to get ahead. The new facility is open to all MSU students and has 12 Alienware Aurora R16 battle stations. There are also Alienware m16 laptops, a console gaming area, a varsity room, and a broadcast studio.

Michigan State announced its first esports team roster less than four months ago, and it looks like the program means business.
