It can be hard for athletes to remember sometimes, but they should always put their first. I like to think of it this way: You are a part-time athlete and a full-time student.

This quote in my opinion pertains more to D3 and maybe even D2 athletes than to athletes competing at the D1 level where athletic competition is more intense. Yes you are playing a sport in college, but you are less likely to make a job out of it than if you were going to a DI school. With that being said, all athletes need to prioritize your studies, because at the end of the day you are going to school to get your degree, not to play a sport.

Remember: you are a for four, maybe five years of your life. But your degree will follow you wherever you go after graduation.
