Are you unsure whether or not your high school coach can help you get recruited? Turns out, they can be useful to you outside of just games and practices.
This article can help you decide how to best use your high school coach as a resource during the recruiting process. Here's how they can fit into the process and how they can benefit you as you move on to college-level athletics.
It's Not What You Know, It's Who You Know
The level of competition in high school sports varies from sport to sport. If you have a competitive high school team and have experience going against other high level kids then, your coach may be able to use their network for your benefit. Ask if they have any contact with college coaches or if they have helped previous athletes move on to the next level. These types of questions allow you to see whether or not they have experience in the recruiting game.
Weigh Your Options
Your high school coach should want to see you succeed and push on to college athletics so if your coach has connections to college coaches, use them! But what if they don't? If they are inexperienced and are unsure how to navigate the recruiting process then it's best to go down a different avenue. Maybe contact your club coach or begin the process independently.

Remember, It's Up to You
You, as the athlete, can involve whoever you want in the recruiting process. It's best you surround yourself with honest, trustworthy people. This sets you up for success as you move forward and look to play college sports. If your high school coach is someone who fits the criteria then involving them can only help you succeed.
