Josh Prom is a DIII Football player and psychology major at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He shares what a typical in-season day is like, balancing academics, athletics, and a social life.
5:00-7:30 AM: Like his girlfriend on the volleyball team, Josh is up early in the morning for a team lift in the weight room. In season, these lifts are typically twice a week and roughly an hour long. In the off-season the team typically lifts three times a week, but not nearly as early in the day. Team breakfast follows shortly after, as the guys fuel up for a day of classes and practice.

8:00AM-2:00PM: As a psychology major, Josh will attend his classes from 8:00-2:00, and find some time to eat lunch with his friends somewhere in the middle. Knowing how busy his schedule is during the season, he tries to schedule his more rigorous classes for the second semester.
3:00-5:00PM: After classes and lunch, it's time for the football team to get together for a team meeting. Immediately following the meeting, the team will break up and do individual meetings, where they watch film from previous games, or of future opponents, to improve their playing.
Then it's time for practice. The guys typically spend two hours on the field, but the practice's agenda can vary day to day as to what they do during that time.

6:00-7:30 PM: Post practice, the guys regroup in the locker room and then head to the dining hall for dinner as a group.
7:00-10:00 PM: After dinner, Josh often spends his free time working on assignments, spending time with friends, and if he's got the time, playing a few video games. Most importantly, he's going to bed early enough, so that he feels well rested for the next day, because “it's going to be a bad day if [he] doesn't get enough sleep.”
While it's a busy lifestyle, being a college athlete is one of Josh's favorite parts about the college experience.
