Daily Grind: NAIA Soccer and Bowling Athlete Hannah Halstead Daily Grind: NAIA Soccer and Bowling Athlete Hannah Halstead

Hannah Halstead is a sophomore dual-sport athlete, competing as a soccer and bowling athlete at the University of Rio Grande. Here is what an average day looks like for Hannah, balancing her commitments to both sports and academics as a biology major. 

7:30 AM – Wake Up

Hannah has an early start to her action-packed day.

8 AM – Class #1

Having barely woken up, Hannah dives straight into her academics, with Chemistry II being her first class of the day.

10 AM – Bowling Lift 

Next, Hannah starts her athletic day by heading to the on-campus gym to complete a lift composed by her bowling coaches. 

11 AM – Breakfast

After a tough , Hannah refuels by eating a nutritious

Noon – Organize equipment 

Hannah uses this short window of time between workouts and classes to prepare for her practices later in the day by cleaning and packing her workout gear and equipment. 

1 PM – Class #2

Back to academics now, as Hannah rounds up her classes for the day with Anatomy II

2:45 PM – Bowling Practice

Hannah's day shifts back to being an athlete, as she joins up with her teammates for bowling practice.

4 PM – Soccer Practice

Despite barely having time to catch her breath, Hannah rushes from the conclusion of one practice to the start of the next, swapping the bowling alley lanes for the grass of the soccer field. 

7 PM – Dinner

Hannah makes herself dinner after a physically demanding day.

8 PM – Homework 

With her athletic commitments over for the day, Hannah switches her focus back to academics, completing her homework and studying for upcoming exams.

9 PM – Free Time

Hannah likes to relax after an exhausting day by hanging out with friends and playing video games.

11 PM – Bedtime 

Lights out!
