Elsa Wimmer is a sophomore cheerleader at John Burroughs School. For decades, the cheerleading program at John Burroughs has existed strictly to support the school's other athletic teams, but the Bomber cheer team competed admirably in their first competitive season this Fall. Although her freshman season was cut short due to COVID-19, Elsa was recently named an ACA All-American.
Elsa started competitive gymnastics at the age of 10 after teaching herself through YouTube videos. She quickly excelled through skill levels despite starting late. In her short career, she has frequently placed in the top spots at meets, often winning first all-around if not first in each individual category as well. Now that she has been given the chance to use her skills in cheer, Elsa has helped lead her team to regionals where they placed 4th. With a score of 99.44, the team will be advancing to the state competition in December.
