Kalita Dennis has the brains and the brawns. Currently, she is taking her COVID year and working to graduate in 2023 with a double major in criminology and psychology with a minor in journalism, media, and film. For the last 15 years, she has played the intense sport of softball and made her way to the HBCU big leagues in 2018. You can find her on the diamond at the D1 program at Howard University, where she has had an exceptional collegiate journey. Check out the timeline of this extraordinary athlete:

This list does not compare to all the outstanding accomplishments made since taking her career to the collegiate level. When first recognized, Kalita did not believe it. HBCU sports have continued to get overlooked for years. She felt honored to be rated with bests, which showed her she can compete with those big-time hitters. It motivated her to continue to push herself and keep working hard.
Her favorite parts of being a Howard athlete are the laughs, pushing her comfort zone, the silly moments, and the grind shared with her teammates turned sisters. One quote that keeps her motivated is “Do your best until you know better. And when you know better, do better” by Maya Angelou.
