Being in two sports is hard enough–exceeding in two sports is even harder. Now do that as a freshman. That is Sawyer White's life in a nutshell.
Sawyer is a freshman at Illinois Wesleyan University where she competes in both soccer and basketball. Last fall, Sawyer started all 19 games and recorded 6 assists as a center midfielder. Sawyer won Newcomer of the Year for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) as well as being named to the All-CCIW Second Team for the 2022 season.

With basketball season still ongoing, we can only look at what Sawyer has accomplished so far, but one can see she is already making a name for herself. After joining the basketball team late as she was busy playing in the NCAA tournament with the soccer team, Sawyer has played in 22 of the 24 games this season, tallying 134 points and 44 assists in 454 minutes of play. That puts her at 3rd in assists on the team and 5th in scoring. Sawyer also won Player of the Week for the CCIW for the week of January 30th and has .

Exceeding expectations? I'm sure most would say so. Whatever the future expectations are, Sawyer's athletic career is just getting started and all signs are pointing to one that will be remembered.
