Angel Reese is a lot of fun to watch…but it must be absolute hell to compete against her.
The sophomore standout from LSU is taking the college basketball world by storm this season—Reese has posted 23 straight double-doubles for the 23-0 Tigers, breaking LSU legend Sylvia Fowles's school record, and standing just shy of the SEC double-double record currently held by reigning POY and national champion, Alyiah Boston from South Carolina. Reese, a transfer from Maryland is averaging a double-double in points and rebounds per game and is widely considered to be Caitlin Clark's biggest competition for National Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season.

Not only that, but Reese is making herself heard both on the court and on social media. After receiving criticism for her vocal and flashy style of play earlier this year, Reese tweeted that she doesn't “fit the narrative” of what people think female athletes should act like “and I'M OK WITH THAT.” Reese went on to say “If it was a boy y'all wouldn't be saying nun at all. Let's normalize women showing passion for the game instead of it being “embarrassing”.” That's a win for female empowerment.
Reese is also doing great things in the NIL space—earlier this week, she signed a NIL deal with designer handbag brand Coach and made sure that all of her teammates were in on the deal. Each Tiger received their very own designer bag as a part of Reese's new partnership.
Angel Reese is the perfect role model for female athletes—vocal, dominating, team-oriented and unapologetic, she encompasses so many things that make sports great.
