Any college athlete knows that once the season ends, it doesn't mean training ends. College athletes will have to stay in shape, and often follow some sort of mandated training or workout plan during the offseason. It might be the offseason, but these workouts can sometimes be grueling and extremely time-consuming.

What do some schools require?
Some schools require mandated workouts, where players have to follow some sort of packet, while other programs are more casual. For example, it's quite possible athletes will have assigned workouts through a private app service, as my friend does at Duke for lacrosse. Regardless, staying in shape and training in the offseason is integral.

How can athletes stay in shape in the offseason?
Athletes can stay in shape during the offseason by being active and eating healthy foods. When it comes to staying fit, athletes can:
- Do yoga
- Weight train
- Run
- Hike
- Do agility drills
- Work on mobility
- Try stability training
- Hire a personal trainer in the offseason to either boost muscle or just stay in appropriate shape for their given season
No matter what you choose (or are told to do), all athletes can benefit from working out in the offseason. However it is important to not overdo it–less intense workouts are recommended during the offseason, and if done correctly, athletes can definitely maintain the same shape.
