Dave Weitzman has been the head coach for the Muhlenberg women's soccer team since 2020. Prior to being promoted to head coach, Dave served as assistant coach for 2 years, as well as head coach for FC Lehigh Valley United for 6 years. He has also spent 4 years coaching high school teams, where he was able to achieve an impressive 72-14-5 record. Coach Weitzman is one of the most passionate and hard working coaches I know, and can offer some great insight on the lives of college athletes.
What made you want to become a soccer coach?
I've always enjoyed the camaraderie and competitive culture around soccer, so I decided to get into coaches in the mid 1990s.
Why did you choose women's over men's soccer?
After coaching men, I was ready for a different challenge. A lot of the women I coach are so driven and want to learn. It's great to deliver everything I know about the game to them and help them be successful on the field.

Having been on both sides of the recruiting process, coaching high school and college, do you have any advice for potential recruits when it comes to reaching out to college coaches?
Reach out as often as possible. Make sure you're letting the coach know what showcases and events you and your team are attending.
When do you start recruiting athletes?
We're year round, the full calendar. Right now is our fall season, but we're still doing a ton of recruiting.
